ELCE Scheduling Request

Fill out this form if you are an International graduate student who has not taken the ELCE and would like to TA for the Chemistry and Biochemistry department. The next ELCE will be held remotely Wednesday, September 8th, 2021.

IMPORTANT, MUST READ:

You are qualified to TA if you meet one of the following requirements:
-TOEFL iBT Speaking subscore: 28-30
-IELTS Speaking subscore: 8.5-9.0
-PTE Speaking sub-score: 83-90 and 2

Even if you meet the above requirements, please fill out this form and indicate your test scores below.

TOEFL speaking scores of 23 – 27, IELTS speaking scores of 7-8, or PTE speaking scores of 65-82: required to take the English Language Certification Exam.

TOEFL speaking scores <23 and/or IELTS <7.0: must develop their language skills first, and then provide proof of course completion in the form of a transcript to the hiring department.

***Applicants with a Speaking subscore of 22 or 6.5 may acquire the required ELCE speaking skills via at least one course offered in the English Language Institute and the English for Academic and Professional Development Program (EAPD).

***Applicants with a Speaking subscore below 20 or 6.0 may acquire the required ELCE speaking skills via at least two courses offered in the English Language Institute and the English for Academic and Professional Development Program (EAPD)

Because the ELCE is a speaking skill, applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in courses such as Conversation Improvement, Effective Oral Presentation, and Pronunciation and Fluency.
